2026 FELLOWS

Between September 2026 and May 2027, our current cohort of Lumen Gentium Fellows will undergo an adventure of intellectual, spiritual, apostolic, and human formation—exploring the truth, goodness, and beauty of Catholic social doctrine and virtuous leadership principles.

  • Matthew Gillard is an Intern Architect with Stantec and has contributed to major public projects including Canada's Parliament Rehabilitation project, GO Expansion, and municipal infrastructure developments across Canada. After entering the Catholic Church in 2015, he has sought to live out his faith through family life, professional excellence, and service to the Church. Matthew is a member of the Knights of Columbus, follows the Third Order Rule of St. Francis, and has led faith studies and spoken on Catholic teaching for young adult audiences. He is particularly interested in heritage conservation, Catholic social teaching, and the role architecture plays in shaping communities and supporting human dignity. In the long term, he hopes to combine leadership in the profession with the restoration and renewal of Catholic churches and other buildings that enrich community life.

  • Peggy has spent nearly two decades in the not‑for‑profit sector, where she discovered that serving as a bridge between finance and fundraising teams is her favourite kind of role. She currently works for Canada’s largest non‑governmental direct provider of social services, where she manages the administrative operations of its monthly giving program. A cradle Catholic whose intellectual curiosity fuels her love for learning, she follows the Church’s current affairs through books, blogs, magazines, and podcasts. As a Lumen Gentium Fellow, she looks forward to deepening her understanding of Catholic Social Doctrine.

  • Darryl is a high school educator teaching French, math and religion courses. He has a passion for combining his international experiences and curriculum to create engaging and memorable lessons for students. Beyond the classroom, he has been involved in volunteer missionary work in Argentina and France through the Salesian congregation of St. John Bosco. As a polyglot of three languages, he enjoys travelling and continuously learning from cultures and the different realities of life and the Church throughout the world. Darryl holds a Bachelor's of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University, as well as a Bachelor's of Education and Master's of Education from York University.

  • Bryanna Jackson is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies with a specialization in Social Work. She has experience in Catholic ministry, including youth ministry, retreat facilitation, faith formation, and evangelization. Bryanna has a deep desire to walk alongside Catholics as they grow toward a personal relationship with Jesus and is passionate about prayer, with a particular heart for grief and healing. She hopes to serve others with empathy and compassion, helping them feel understood, encouraged, and reminded of God’s love.

  • Johann Lagui is a nursing officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.

  • Janice Ling is a CPA and Senior Internal Audit Manager in the Fintech industry, dedicated to bridging the gap between faith and the workplace. Her professional background spans public accounting and internal audit across the financial services and auto parts industries.

    A cradle Catholic, Janice’s missionary drive was shaped by Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) and a mission trip to World Youth Day in Panama. She actively serves in young adult ministry, currently acting as the VP of Finance and a Board Member for Young Professional Catholics of Toronto (YPCT). Having recently graduated from the Encounter School of Ministry’s two-year program, Janice looks forward to the Lumen Gentium Forum to continue growing as a virtuous leader and integrating Catholic social teaching into the corporate world.

  • Andrew Sansone is an incoming articling student at Torys LLP, working to complete his third and final year at the University of Toronto’s Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law. At Torys, he supports lawyers across different practice groups on a variety of transactional, litigation, and regulatory matters. After his articles, he hopes to build his career at the firm as a corporate lawyer, with an emphasis on infrastructure and energy law. At the University of Toronto, he serves as the President of the Runnymede Society, a national student organization dedicated to intellectual diversity, constitutionalism, and the rule of law. Prior to starting his legal career, Andrew held several roles in both provincial and federal politics, including positions with the Attorney General of Ontario and a Member of Parliament, as well as serving in leadership roles on multiple successful election campaigns. Outside of law and politics, Andrew is an active volunteer in his community and at his local parish in King City.

  • Kateryna Shpir is an economist and litigation consultant with over a decade of experience in damages quantification for personal injury cases. Passionate about building vibrant communities rooted in faith and professional excellence, she is a co-founder of Young Professional Catholics of Toronto, one of Canada’s largest organizations for young Catholic professionals. She is also involved with the Catholic Civil Rights League, Hunger Patrol and St. Francis Table, supporting initiatives that advance the protection of human dignity, promote service, and provide care to those in need. Outside of her professional and community commitments, Kateryna is a regular at the gym and enjoys exploring the arts, and reading.

  • Elizabeth's travels have brought her across both North and South America having grown up in the aviation industry. Her Catholic upbringing and formation has placed on her heart a desire to serve her parish and local community in various roles. As a graduate of Humber College, she is continuing her studies in Business Administration with the goal of serving in the non-profit sector. As a seasoned professional, her extensive experience in customer service has brought her through various fields including retail, security and finance. She looks forward to participating in deep discussions about Catholic Social Teaching with her fellow members of Lumen Gentium. In her free time, she enjoys music, reading, artwork, working out, anime and of course travelling with family.

  • Mary holds a B.A. in Catholic Studies from Seat of Wisdom College, with concentrations in Theology and Literature. In her free time she enjoys teaching Bible Study classes at her local parish. She has been a freelance journalist since 2019, with work spanning across various media platforms from journalistic entries featured in the Catholic Register to co-hosting and producing The Generation Gap Podcast. Mary’s passion lies in exploring theological,  philosophical, and social inquiry through journalism, media, and literature.

  • Daniel is a lifelong Catholic who has recently taken a real interest in getting more rooted in the faith, and in how to actually live out Catholic ideals in both professional and personal life. He is an industrialist working on behalf of an industrial contractor, finding opportunities ranging from small conveyor installations to massive automated warehouse projects, and moving those deals forward from open to close with his team. Daniel enjoys putting deals together and envisioning a brighter future. He also enjoys sitting with the social justice issues of our time and thinking through how they might be solved from a Catholic perspective.

  • Joy Wamae is a strategy and transformation professional with experience in asset management, consulting, and financial services. She holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from Queen Mary University of London, and has worked across strategy, program management, financial analysis, and technology transformation. Joy is passionate about her Catholic faith and about building a culture where the timeless informs everyday life. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming, tennis, reading, cooking, and hiking.
